World’s First Ever Marbled Cultivated Pork Loin Unveiled

Novel Farms, Inc. has announced the world’s first marbled cultivated pork loin. The company’s technology reduces production costs by over 99% which allows for faster scaling and the ability to compete with conventional meat pricing. Novel Farms previously raised $1.4 million in investments from CULT Foods, Sustainable Food Ventures, and others. The startup was founded in 2020 by Martinez Marshall and Michelle Lu, two postdoctoral scientists in the molecular and cell biology department at the University of California at Berkeley.

“Our goal is to accelerate the widespread adoption of cultivated meat and its benefits by producing ‘hard-to-resist’ whole muscle cuts.” - Nieves Martinez Marshall.
