SuperMeat Partnership Marks Industry First to Reduce Production Costs

A partnership between Israeli food tech company SuperMeat and Japanese food giant Ajinomoto marks a first for the industry, a commercially viable food chain supporting cultivated meat with growth media and other necessary ingredients. Growth media make up 60-80% of the cost of cultivated meat and is one of the major bottlenecks for the industry. Ajinomoto’s investment in SuperMeat is set to reduce costs of the product, support commercialization, and fund a production facility in the U.S.

SuperMeat owns The Chicken, the world's first restaurant to serve cultivated chicken. The company plans to launch its products in the U.S. in 2023.
