San Francisco-based startup Wildtype has raised $100M in funding from Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey Jr's FootPrint Coalition, and Bezos Expeditions among others. The company recently signed deals with Snowfox and Pokéworks to get their cultivated salmon in nearly 1,300 grocery stores, sushi bars, and restaurants. Last year Wildtype opened the World’s first cultivated seafood pilot plant, capable of producing more than 200,000 tons of seafood per year. The company has been in talks with the FDA since 2019 regarding the approval of their product.
