New Regulations to Pave Way for Cultivated Meat in UK

Following Brexit, the UK no longer has to adhere to EU approval processes for novel foods. These processes often take years to navigate and can cost companies tens of thousands of pounds, creating a bottleneck for innovation. UK’s government is reviewing these procedures to develop a system that supports innovators, investors, and consumers and encourages innovation in the sustainable protein sector, including cultivated meat. Cultivated Meat is already approved for consumption in Singapore and the United States may soon follow suit.
