United States President Joe Biden has issued an executive order advancing biotechnology and biomanufacturing, including cultivating alternative food sources, for a sustainable, safe and secure bioeconomy. The order calls for resourced and development in biotechnology and biomanufacturing to find innovative solutions in health, climate change, energy, food security, agriculture, supply chain resilience, and national and economic security.
Last year the USDA funded the National Institute for Cellular Agriculture to support cultivated meat research and science. The government agency recently put labeling of this innovation on its list of long-term actions.
